Home School

I have a soft spot for the home school community, since I am one of you. Therapy can be very expensive for many families, especially one-income families.  I am amazed at the generosity of grandparents, so that might be an avenue to pursue.

If you want to know how to get the training I have, I am happy to help.  If you have a large family (and since dyslexia is hereditary), this might be a good idea.

If your family is smaller and it possible to make sacrifices to provide professional therapy, consider this:

Reading and spelling take 5 times the brain power for dyslexic children, so therapy is not always the child's favorite subject.  If you want to remain "fun Mom" and "fun Dad," I recommend you pass on the hard stuff to someone with experience.  It's not that you can't  learn what you need to learn, it might just be that you want to manage the rest of your family well and be a place of sanctuary.

Either way, I can help.
